Meet Betsy
Understanding your brain, supporting your life.
I became a counselor because I’ve always been interested in how people think, learn, feel, and adapt - especially those whose brains don’t always fit a typical mold. Over nearly ten years, I’ve helped neurodivergent adults, children, teens, and families navigate ADHD, autism, anxiety, executive-functioning issues, depression, perfectionism, and more.
I am also affiliated with Threshold Community Partners, a collective of experienced professionals that has committed to continuing and expanding the ground-breaking work of Threshold Community Program in Decatur, Georgia, with neurodivergent children, teens, adults, and their families.
My approach is affirming, collaborative, warm, and practical. Together, we will explore your strengths, develop strategies that actually work for your life, and create a space where you can be yourself. I believe therapy should feel safe, flexible, and sometimes even a little fun, all while helping you make meaningful progress towards your goals.
My Approach
I take a strengths-based, neurodivergent-affirming approach, emphasizing understanding and practical support. Therapy may include:
Exploring identity and self-understanding
Improving communication and relationships
Developing strategies to manage anxiety and overwhelm
Building executive functioning skills
Creating systems that work with your brain rather than against it
My goal is always to honor your unique experiences while helping you thrive in daily life.
Who I Work With
I primarily work with:
Neurodivergent adults and teens
Individuals exploring or newly diagnosed with ADHD or autism
Clients experiencing anxiety or perfectionism
People looking to strengthen executive functioning and daily life skills
Families navigating conflict and seeking to strengthen relationships
I also offer therapeutic and skills-based groups, focused on topics like social connection, shared interests, and executive functioning.
Professional Background
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with experience in individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. As the former Director of Therapy at Threshold Community Program, a therapeutic program and school for neurodivergent adolescents and adults, I’ve worked with individuals and families as they navigate transitions, build regulation and self-advocacy skills, understand individual differences, and develop authentic relationships.
My training includes neurodivergent-affirming care, ADHD and executive functioning support, anxiety and perfectionism, family and group therapy facilitation.
I’ve spent nearly a decade helping clients develop practical skills, gain self-understanding, and build meaningful change in their lives.
